WE LOVE OUR YOUTH!

Here's Another, Souljahz 4 Christ

This month's Souljah-4-Christ is 17 year old Courtney Latiolais.

Courtney is the daughter of Carol Raney and David Latiolais. She has a younger brother, Chase, and two younger half-sisters Skylar, and Danna. Courtney was baptized in the Catholic church when she was a baby, however, she was baptized again at the Father's House with her family this past summer. She is a senior at LaVergne High School, and her interests include hanging out with friends, singing, and just having fun. Courtney is also in the choir at LaVergne High. Courtney's favorite Bible verse is Phil. 4:13, “I can do ALL things through CHRIST who strengthens me!” Courtney had this to say about her experience in the youth group:

I enjoy going to church at the Father's House because when we first came I felt very welcome and I felt like part of a family...it is amazing! And I always wanted to get involved with singing at church, but never had any way to do that. Then I came to the Fathers House, got the chance, and I absolutely love it! Its something I have always wanted to do. I also enjoyed going to intercessory prayer in the summer and getting to know older members of the church and learning from them. It really seemed to bring the whole church together and unite us instead of having our two separate groups. It was awesome. I have grown so much closer to God through intercessory prayer, Sunday morning youth prayers, and of course our Wednesday nights! It also helps that we have such an amazing youth pastor. Its nice that he is so close to our age and we can relate to him and he knows how to get the message across so we can understand and apply the lessons to our life.

Courtney has brought so much to the youth group. She is an endless bundle of energy and optimism which is such a blessing when others are down. Courtney loves cheering others up and instilling in them the confidence they can do anything. Her favorite Bible verse reflects this so well. Courtney loves to be active in the church and is dedicated to being there every Wednesday night to sing in Praise and Worship. She has attended many of the major events the youth have gone on and always brings a smile (sometimes a laugh) to the group, and makes the outings more enjoyable. Courtney has many gifts, but the most prominent is her spectacular singing voice. Courtney is in choir at school and even placed second in a singing competition in Murfreesboro. What makes her gift so much more special is that she has devoted it to God. We can all learn something from this amazing young woman. God has given us all gifts, so let’s use them to Worship Him. We're blessed to have Courtney and her family as part of the Father's House Church and even more blessed to have her stand up and lead us into worship. I know Courtney will continue to be a great role model for others and a blessing to all those whose lives she touches.

SCROLL DOWN TO READ ABOUT NICK IF YOU MISSED IT!

It’s begun: the introducing of the "Souljahz 4 Christ." Each month we’ll bring you a different member. This way you’ll learn about the individual and what God is doing. Of course I'll put my two cents in along the way. ^_^

Our first is 15 year old Nick Kounlavong. Nick is the son of Shannon and Jim Kounlavong, and has a younger sister, Emily. Nick was baptized at the church on 2/13/05. He attends LaVergne High School, and his interests include learning about God, fellowship at church (hanging out), cars, soccer, and other normal teenage activities. Nick's favorite Bible verse is the classic John 3:16. Nick had this to say about his experience in the Youth group:

I never questioned my faith until the fateful day I came to the Father's House Church. When I met Jonathan and the rest of the youth, everything seemed pointless without God in my life. As soon as I started to believe in God everything in my life seemed to come together. My life and my new relationship with God was so good. Of course there where, and still are, times I've questioned God about the things he has done with me, but I've learned over the time I've spent with Jonathan, Wendy, and everyone else just to have faith and never let anyone put you down for being a Christian and a disciple of God.

Ever since he came, Nick has been an inspiration to all those around him. He is one of the most dedicated and active teens. If something needs to be done, or participation in an event is needed, Nick doesn’t hesitate to raise his hand. Nick, as some remember, ran with Sam Day in the 1/2 marathon to raise money for the children's church playground. He has also taken part in almost every youth trip from the concerts in the summer to the Fill the Floyd Event in the fall—not to mention attending Men's Breakfast and many of the Intercessory Prayer sessions over the summer, where I know many will agree, he was such a blessing. Nick's determination in his faith, his active participation in the church, and his dedication to God are an inspiration to all around him. Most of all to his youth pastor and church family who watch as he grows and to his Father in Heaven who looks down smiling.

From the Youth

Helping Children learn to talk with God is one of the most rewarding aspects of Children's/Youth Ministry. Our kids are confident in their prayers, and excited each time they get to pray publicly. Their success in praying effectively is due to a willingness to seek God, learning, and memorizing Scripture. The cool prizes help motivate a bit too.

Our church is a happy place for children, and meaningful relationships with Christians play an important role. A child can be strongly influenced by his parents and by other adults. What better place for children to have adult examples and friends than among Christians at church? Children learn from the examples and values of those around them. Our Christian education ministry provides opportunities for observing and participating in the joys of being a servant of the Most High God. We know children are action-oriented. Most would rather get involved and do something than sit still and talk about an idea. We believe children need both to be aware of what Christians are doing in the world, and be a part of God's work. As we develop nurturing relationships with Children we must remember the key to Christian growth is not only to KNOW what God's Word says about living as a Christian ,but to actually obey God's Word. A vital ministry to children needs to provide opportunities for this kind of growth to take place.

Our Youth Have A Vision

Have you ever wondered about all the noise and commotion is you hear behind the stage on Wednesday and Sunday nights? No, it is not a herd of cattle or a flock of chickens. It is just our wonderful and loving teens learning about the Christian life, and how to love God and serve others. We have really enjoyed our times of sharing and asking questions.
